it gives both positive and negative impacts. It is positive whenever you get information about current events. It's negative effect is that not all info from the television is reliable or some are just plain useless.
i think tv has both positive and negative impacts on people. we get alot of info from the tv, but it also shows alot of negative stuff that effects us in every day life.
I AGREE! A + to certain things and a - to others...there is such a bad influence on kids these days that they learn from TV, and so much more. the positive is we hear, see, and know what’s going on around the world. I think the biggest positive of TV is "breaking news" that could be dangerous to us. all I can ever think about is school shootings, and how its s0o0o0o terrible, and sad, and if there were better methods of info getting out then lives could be saved... as college students there is either a lot, or no time to watch TV, but there is ALWAYS someone somewhere watching TV, and they could save a life knowing something is going on and preventing others from going to that location…
I think that television has both a positive and negative impact on our lives. It's one of our main sources of information and news from around the world. But at the same time, i think it's one of the main reasons why Americans are so lazy. With all the great entertainment on tv, we are glued to the screen for hours on end. Television has its ups and downs but I can't imagine life without it.
I think I should kill my television. There are so many programs on TV and maybe 5 of them are providing some useful information. I think life would be better without television.
i think tv is more negative than positive because its full of shows that don't really help us in life. Probably the only thing that is positive is the news. TV distracts us from accomplishing are goals. Could you image how many things we could actually accomplish in one single day if we didnt have tvs? Its scary if you really think about it.
I hardly watch any television because there's much more things to be involved in. I would need the tv only for news but the radio does the same thing. Killing my tv wouldn't be a problem at all... Besides, the internet has grown incredibly useful over the years :)
I think it depends on the way you look at this subject. On the one hand, television provides us with really important information like the daily news etc. Therefore, it also bears an educational value. One the other hand, I am convinced that watching T.V. also distracts you from more important things in life since it is highly entertaining. I experiences that almost weekly. For example, it is Sunday afternoon and I should probably study or do something productive, I always catch myself watching movies and useless T.V. shows which do not have anything to do with my studies. Furthermore, I have a friend who seems to be totally obsessed with laying on the couch, eating chips, and watching T.V.. He does it the whole day long. Every time I ask him why he does so he responses: "Well, what else am I supposed to do? It is boring and watching funny shows isn't." Oh well, maybe he should read a book ( which would also improve his horrible spelling) or he should start getting a social life which doesn't necessarily mean he has to burn his T.V.. In this case, crossing a certain limit according to watching T.V. can be unhealthy for your social life as well as for your physical health condition.
For me, I think tv is about equal between the positive and negative things. The positive is watching sports, finding out the latest news, and other things. The negative is the bad music videos and the other shows that can effect us. In the long run, I think we will have to kill our televisions as the negatives will overtake the positives as it gets worse and worse every single day.
I really should kill my television. TV is such a distraction for me. I can have all kinds of work to do but I always turn to the TV first. It prevents me from doing my work as soon as possible and promotes procrastination. The benefits of being informed are overshadowed by the vices.
I think television has a positive impact in our lives. I know there are plenty negative shows, but what other type of mass media doesn't? A computer that is connected to the Internet isn't any better. Radio doesn't always censor words. We are filled with plenty good and evil. Television is not only a resource to go to when we need information, but it's also a good source of entertainment when one is bored at home. Oh, and for those bad influence shows, there are filters now, just like computers... I will not kill my television anytime soon.
Television has both a negative and a positive impact on my life depending how and what i'm using it for. If im using it for research or to gain information by watching the news or something, then that would be a positive impact. But if im watching something like MTV then that could still be positive depending on how long i watch it for. If all day im sitting at the tv screen watching MTV i am killing my brain cells and being lazy.
I think television has a positive impact in your life it just depends on who's watching and what they’re watching, but mainly TV has a lot of different things which help you broaden your knowledge and makes you be more open minded and it also informs you of what's going on in the world. TV also helps you relax and as you said if you’re watching something and you don't agree it makes you think even more.
One of the most damaging aspect of television is the homogenization of culture. We are losing regional individuality in the areas of language and even attitudes. A person in South Carolina and Oregon is exposed to hours of similar speech patterns and sayings. The urban patois of Detroit is now heard in the speech of grade schoolers in North Dakota. One of the strengths of our country has been the diversity of our states and regions. This is being slowly eroded, night after night, show after show, rerun after rerun.........
i know for sure that i should kill my television but ive been told "thou shall not kill" and i want to follow the rules :) i watch so much random stuff that is useless and bad but i love watching it...i know its wrong but im kind of addicted 8/
The TV has very damaging effects to an individuals mind. A person doesn't think when he/she is staring at it. You are not contributing to the world around you if you let the TV entertain you. Not to mention it can be a horrible addiction that can rid you of time you could be spending being more productive.
I would also like to mention that the TV is now full of reality shows at are not educational at all. TV is full of ads that try to sell you things you don't need... 15 min. of programming 45 min. of commericals...
Heck No!!!! Me encanta Television!I cannot live without tv. Tv, first of all, puts me to sleep every single night, and it provides entertainment, and information. I do agree some stuff may not be good for kids to watch, but I still beleive we need tv. That is one way how word gets around, and of course the weather. Plus, how would I watch my sports??!!
i believe television has both a positive and a negative side. the negative sides would be corruption in society and alot of times the bad image and example it gives people on alot of things. the positive however is the information it gives us on various different things and the entertainment it gives people and satisfaction.
Its both positive and negative. The positive its that we can get a lot of information from it. The negative impact it causes is that we begin to rely on it more and more and we can be so easily influenced to do what isn't always right....but honestly, i still wouldn't kill my television.
Everything has both sides. Television is the same that it has both positive and negative impacts.
On the positive side, we couldn't ignore how television changed our lives in the modern society. Television provides several main functions in people's modern lives. First of all, people get to know what happened in this world without walking outside the house by watching news. Second, people get education by watching some educational or documentary TV programs. Third, people entertain ourselves by listening music, watching movie, playing TV games, etc. So TV enriches people's life contents.
But, the negative impacts from television is not avoidable too. More and more people treat television as an indispensable part of their lives. The isolate themselves from communicating with outside in the real world. They spend too much time in front of the TV, instead of going out to make friends, doing sports and socializing. Also, some information from television are not 100% true, so if you are not very wise with critical thinking, sometimes you would be fooled by the TV programs.
So I would say we should not killl our television, but we have to be very careful to choose what to watch and how much time spend on the TV.
i think tv has mostly negative impacts on people. it makes them lazy, but i dont think we should kill our tv. if tv makes people happy and thats what they choose to do for hours on a day, then thats their choice. i like watching a little tv every now and then, but the people that take it too far and watch it hours a day...well thats their problem.
I think questioning whether television has a negative or positive affect depends completely on the person. Some people watch television for news and educational programs. Other people watch television for purely entertainment purposes, and eventually become addicted to it. For the people who become addicted to television; it is obviously a negative affect. Those people no longer want to take walks or fold the laundry if they could be watching T.V. instead. I think television can be compared to drugs, because for some people drugs are useful. However, for others it is a negative affect because they abuse it, and therefore become lazy and addicted.
The impact depends on the capasity of understandent of the person. Some of the things broadcasted nationwide are inpropriate however it is up to the viewer whether they watch it or not. Over all it is positive. It either informs us of current events around the globe or it provides entertainment which is always a good thing.
Television and the media as a whole tells us what they want us to hear, what they want us to think, what they want us to believe, and what to look like and how to act. there are positive influences on T.V. but the negative out weigh the positive. would half the amount of people smoke or do drugs if the T.V. didn't glorify it the way they do. or whenever you turn on the News what do you hear? The eventual positive story backed by a slew of negative depressing stories. Yet people still change their channels to the news every night. its gotten to the point where teenagers are influenced to do things and act certain ways because of the way it is portrayed in the media. would teenage girls make them selves vomit to look better because the people they look up to weigh 85 pounds. we are told what the government wants us to hear and wants us to believe. Should you kill your television? i don't think its possibly considering that my television isn't alive, so i will use the word destroy instead. no im not destroying mine, i use it for my video games. but there really isn't anything we can do about the governments manipulation of their people they have been doing it for ages.and aren't gunna stop any time soon.
I would say television has a mostly negative impact on people's lives. The news channels are only telling you what they want you to hear, and it's usually about somebody getting murdered, raped, or the latest drug bust. The television aren't much better either. And in between all of this they are trying to sell you a better carpet stain remover for only 19.95. Plus S&H.
Our tv is bad if something bad is showing, but our tv is good and educational for example if John Adams series is showing, its bad if you choose to watch bad things and vise versa
I think it depends on what we watch and how me watch. for instance do we watch nonsense all the time or do we watch information. I like to watch the discovery channel sometimes they have these interesting shows like the one about stonehenge. that was pretty interesting they talked of how they probably took the stones their and what they probably celebrated. But thenagain I also watch nonsense things. So it all depends on what we watch
well its both positive and negative. We do get vital information from televison like everyday news, but most of what is shown now in days is negative. So the subject goes both ways.
For adults it can go both ways. In the positive effect it gives you entertainment and relaxation, but if u abuse it can become harmful to your body. For children i would say it is bad because they dont do any other activity and that as well can be harmful. Also what is shown on tv these days is not something positive the chidren should be learning.
Great Question!!!...ummm i think that Television gives ppl both positive and negative impacts...positive when you get information that might help you in your life and negative well that some times some of the stuff that we here in Television are a bunch of lies just to freak out ppl...yup yup!!!...
i feel like television is a double edged sword. it can go both ways. after a long, stressful day its nice to come home and just sit down and forget about things that are troublin you for a little bit. but they again it could be bad if you just sit there mindlessly and stare at the pixels. i do tihnk that television has taken over people lives though, so id say the negative side is sharper than the positive side.
Another negative of television is watching your favorite baseball team lead in the 8th inning and then end up losing the game like with the Dodgers last night. I know I listed sports as a positive, but after last night, I think television is really negative.
I believe television has both negative and positive effects. It all depends on what you watch. There are a lot of great educational shows. I love A&E and the History Channel. Other than that, I don't watch tv:/
I also think television has both negative and positive effects. Too much television will definitely have a negative effect! Wathcing the news or the Discovery Channel can inform us with knowledge about the world. But other than the news, shows on MTV, for example, have negative effects on young kids. Limiting what we watch on TV has a postive effect on our lives.
Well I love tv and I think it is a great thing for us if we use it correctly. The problem is we abuse hours upon hours staring at it mindlessly, and distract ourselves from other things we could be doing. You just need to limit yourself. It's all about self control!
I think watching television has its pros and cons. It can be useful for learning about current events. It can also benefit children with all those learning programs. It can get harmful when people get addicted to watching tv. If you watch too much tv then it takes away time from doing neccessary things. It's a lot easier for a person to decide to sit and watch tv than to go exercise, finish homework, clean, and etc. While watching tv too much tv can be harmful, i think its fine in moderation.
I think I should kill my television right now. It is keeping me from doing school work. And these tv shows are making me feel even more guilty for not doing anything.
In my opinion television has both a positive and negative effect on my life it can be a waste of time and it can also be entertaining. Nevertheless; I wouldn't kill my television.
i think the impact tv has on peoples lives is up to the viewer. its up to how the viewer makes of what they watch. i think people can learn from even negative impacts.
I agree we should kill our t.v but there's also good things in it. If we would baqlance the good and the bad things im sure the negative would weigh a lot more. T.V has changed! I remember when I could change the channel and not be scared to see naked ladies. Nowadays, you have to lock your tv so your kids don't find nasty things!! Positive things would be like the news or the discovery channel. You can enjoy tv if you choose carefully what to watch.

honestly i wouldn't destroy mine because i only watch tv for when games are on. other then that i really don't watch tv besides that and wouldn't neccessarily say its bad, for me. i would say that there are a lot of useless information and shows than actual information that somebody can use though.
